All the time I used to wonder as to why all the good international bands perform only in Banglore and not in Bombay...Last month when I had been to Banglore I got the answer to my question...
I have been to most pubs in bombay and havent been to pleased with the quality of music here. People always recommended pubs in Banglore and so I told myself that I need to make the best of my visit to Banglore. My friend from bombay had recommended Purple Haze to me and he said that ’’If u think u rock ...then u are wrong....Purple haze rocks!!’’ I was too amused at that statement. It was this statement alone that made me visit Purple Haze when I was in Banglore.
Let me tell u abt that night.
I was 7.30 in the evening and I was told that it was the best time to reach the Pub as a little later than that I wont find a place to sit in there....I couldnt believe it..as in bombay the best time to enter a pub is around 10.30 when the party just begins.It was a Saturday and I was charged a covercharge of 300 bucks..I said to myself ....’’This better be worth...!!!!!’’ The place was not full.....I managed to find a place at the bar with my friend who had accompanied me...
Soon I noticed that people started flocking ..and in no time that place was as crowded as dalal street in bombay.The music that was being played was only Rock and an ocassional metal number. By around 9.00 I noticed that there were more people standing than sitting ..not because they liked to stand or something ..but because there was no place to sit......
The DJ was increasing the tempo of the numbers and he played some of the best tracks that I have ever known ranging from Metallica to Iron maiden to Pink floyd to Black sabbath ...Joe Satriani ....U name it he played it..!!! Whats more ...I noticed that whatever the number the DJ played ..almost everyone in the Pub (including me ;-)) could sing along ....they really knew their music I must say.....something I dont see happen in bombay except in Rock shows.
The place shut down at 11.00 sharp....but I think that in the 3 hours or so that I spend there I had all my money worth..
Purple Haze is definately a great expericence....It is a world on its own.......a feeling, every Rock entusiast must experience......
Guys Bangalore Rocks and so does Purple haze.!!!
